Read on to learn a bit more about Sheryl, Gregg, and Rick. You might also want to visit our page of band pictures and our performances page.

Guitarist Gregg Kimball supports Sheryl on the six-string, twelve-string, and National steel guitars. His fluency in a wide range of early blues styles makes him a perfect complement to her powerful vocals. One reviewer called him "an accomplished guitarist with a studied approach . . . one can almost hear the scratches on the Blind Lemon records."

Gregg's interest in blues comes from his research and writing in African-American and Southern history and life. Currently a historian with the Library of Virginia he frequently organizes educational programs to accompany musical performances, including Old Dominion Songsters, a tribute to Virginia's blues heritage and Blues in the Schools programs.

Singer Sheryl Warner was one of the first few women to attend the Virginia Commonwealth University Jazz Studies Program. Her rich, expressive voice has developed over twenty years of singing in the blues tradition, described by Dirty Linen as "One of the most expressive and powerful voices in blues today."

Sheryl draws on the extensive repertoire of early women blues singers, bringing her own unique style to the music of legends such as Bessie Smith and Memphis Minnie, and she reinterprets the lyrics, while retaining the spirit, of the great bluesmen.

Sheryl also performs with Among Friends, an eclectic group of veteran Richmond-area musicians that periodically holds concerts and have issued several recordings.

Rick Manson has been playing harmonica for nearly thirty years. He was a student and protégé of Richmond and New York blues legend Nat Riddles. He has also studied and played with internationally know hormonicists Phil Wiggins, Joe Filisko, and Carlos Del Junko. Rick has presented workshops at the Virginia Harmonica Fest in 2002 and 2003. He previously performed with local bands The Detonators and The Smokin’ Section.

Among Rick's influences are John Lee Williamson, Sonny Terry, Phil Wiggins, Charlie McCoy, and Big Walter Horton. Rick brings harp-driven tunes from the early days of electric blues to the Homewreckers' sound and he performs on our second CD Lucky Oil on My Hand. He has recorded with a number of the area's top artists. Recently he was featured on Scott Perry's CD release Hero Worship.
